Arab Americans (Arabic: عَرَبٌ أَمْرِيكِيُّونَ‎ or أمريكيون عرب) are Americans of either Arab ethnic or cultural and linguistic heritage or identity, who identify themselves as Arab. Arab Americans trace ancestry to any of the various waves of immigrants of the countries comprising the Arab World. Countries of origin for Arab Americans include Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. According to the Arab American Institute, (aaiusa.org), it is estimate that nearly more than 3.7 million Americans trace their roots to the Arab world. Arab Americans found in every state, but more than two-thirds of them live in just eleven states: California, Michigan, Massachusetts, New York, Florida, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and Virginia. Metropolitan Los Angeles, Detroit, and New York are home to one-third of the population. The majority of Arab Americans are native-born, and nearly 82% of Arabs in the U.S. are citizens. While the community traces its roots to every Arab country, the majority of Arab Americans have ancestral ties to Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq. New York, Detroit, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington D.C. are the top five metropolitan areas with Arab American populations. Though there are also large numbers of Arab Americans in Florida, Texas, New Jersey, Ohio, New York, Massachusetts, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.      Information is from Wikipedia.com
